Every child deserves to be welcomed, respected, and treated equally.

St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy is an upcoming U.S. Supreme Court case that asks whether preschools can exclude children with LGBTQ+ parents while receiving taxpayer dollars through Colorado’s universal preschool program.

Why This Matters to Donor Conceived People

LGBTQ+ families are an integral part of the donor conceived community. Many donor conceived people are raised by LGBTQ+ parents, and/or are LGBTQ+ parents themselves. A decision permitting publicly funded preschools to turn away children because of their family structure or how their family was formed could have far-reaching consequences for our families.

No child should face exclusion because they have LGBTQ+ parents or because their family was formed through donor conception or surrogacy. Every child deserves the same educational opportunities and sense of belonging, regardless of how their family came to be.
